Privacy Policy
37 Shades of Late doesn't collect anything that identifies you. There are no accounts, ads or tracking, and no third-party SDKs.
What the app sends
To show departure times, the app asks our server for the predictions at the stop and line you picked. With each request it sends:
- the stop, line and direction you're looking at;
- whether the request came from the app, a widget or the map;
- how many favorites you've saved, and the app version;
- a random install ID that the app generates the first time it runs.
The install ID isn't connected to your name, Apple ID, device identifiers or any other app, and we can't link it to you. It only lets us count, anonymously, how many people use the app, how often, and which lines and stops are popular, so we can improve it. Deleting the app deletes the ID; reinstalling creates a new one.
Picking your city
On first launch, the app asks our server which supported city (San Francisco or Seattle) is closest. The server answers from the rough location our hosting provider derives from your internet connection, typically accurate to a city or region. It doesn't ask for your device's location, and nothing is stored. You can switch cities anytime in the app.
This website
The live departure box on 37shadesoflate.com asks our server for the next 37 at Church & 14th St. That request contains no ID, and the site sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
What we don't collect
We don't record your location, IP address or anything else about you, and we never share or sell usage statistics. Your favorites and chosen stop stay on your device. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps short-lived request logs to operate the service.
Data sources
San Francisco departure data comes from 511.org (Metropolitan Transportation Commission) and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. Seattle data comes from OneBusAway, with schedules and real-time information from King County Metro, Sound Transit and the City of Seattle. 37 Shades of Late is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
